The Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture by Frederique Constant continues the path of the young Swiss watch brand and houses the 31st in-house manufacture caliber, named FC-735. It is the brand's first automatic movement to feature a big date, moon phase, and power reserve indicator.
This fitting, exclusive new release for the brand's 35th anniversary is limited to 150 copies.
The extended 50-hour power reserve is indicated by a fine hand at 9 o'clock, which traces a circular arc from 0 to 50. It ends in a red zone, indicating that it's time to wind the watch before it stops.
Opposite, between 2 and 3 o'clock, the large date display is prominently featured, with its framed double window showing the tens and ones digits. A perfect balance, complemented by the moon phase indicator at 6 o'clock, which shines poetically against its blue, star-studded background.
With this caliber, Frederique Constant demonstrates its own watchmaking skills: All three complications, as well as setting the time and winding the watch, are regulated via the crown at 3 o'clock. No pushers, no correctors, no styluses. Typical of the young brand, watchmaking is made accessible thanks to its simple operation.
