STOPWATCHES & CHRONOGRAPHS FOR THE HIGHEST DEMANDS

The Swiss-German company Hanhart is one of the most important chronograph and stop watch manufacturers and has been synonymous with top-quality precision timekeeping for decades.

Once upon a time, founder Johan Adolf Hanhart, set out to launch the world’s first affordable stop watch. This succeeded. The first chronograph wrist-watches followed. The time pieces were used specifically in aviation and were very popular with pilots.

Even today, the original successful values of the brand are recognizable in all watches - functionality, thanks to good legibility and

operability & reliability due to robust construction. The special look of the Pilot's watches is never lost.

The Flyback Function

The historic 417 ES, originally developed for German Bundeswehr Air Force pilots, already featured the flyback function – also known as “Temposchaltung” or tempo switching. This function allows a new timing interval to be started immediately with just one press of the reset pusher, without having to stop the previous timing mechanism first.

With the new 417 ES Heritage Flyback, this function now returns to Hanhart's most popular collection. The Sellita AMT5100 M hand-wound movement features a classic column wheel, offers a power reserve of at least 58 hours, and beats at 4 Hertz – robust, precise, and built for everyday use as well as for demanding conditions.

A trademark with a function - the red button

He tenderly kissed her sleeping forehead before quietly leaving the apartment. As he looked at his Hanhart chronograph in the hangar, a smile flickered across his lips: she had painted the pusher with her red nail polish so he would always think of her and return safely...
Whether this legend is true is unclear, but the red pusher originally served a practical purpose: the signal color was meant to prevent pilots from inadvertently resetting the stop time. Many of the historical Hanhart calibers were equipped with a flyback function, where an incorrect push could have serious consequences, for example, when used for navigation.

The red pusher was therefore not just a design element, but a safety measure that protected users from potential errors.
