Hanhart performed decisive pioneering work in the field of reliable, highly functional precision chronographs. In 1938, the company designed a single-pusher movement for naval officers with its proprietary "Caliber 40." Just one year later, the first pilot's chronographs followed, featuring the "Caliber 41" – a column-wheel movement with a flyback function.

When the Swiss-German watch brand reissued faithful replicas of these legendary chronographs in the 1990s, it continued its long tradition and high level of expertise. In 2012, Hanhart presented the Pioneer TachyTele model with an elegant antique white dial.

Once upon a time, founder Johan Adolf Hanhart, set out to launch the world’s first affordable stop watch. This succeeded. The first chronograph wrist-watches followed. The time pieces were used specifically in aviation and were very popular with pilots.

TACHYMETERS & TELEMETERS

In addition to the stopwatch function, the PIONEER TachyTele from Hanhart features two practical scales, each one clearly legible thanks to its red finish on the antique white dial. The tachymeter scale for measuring average speeds is arranged spirally in the center of the dial. Since this allows a total of three revolutions of the stopwatch hand to be taken into account, this significantly expands the measuring range.
This allows even relatively slow speeds of 60 km/h to 20 km/h to be measured. The telemeter scale printed on the outside periphery of the dial is used to measure distances taking the speed of sound into account.
